I got my 91 syncro westy when the 2PO took the van to the dealer! for
a NEW! engine, clutch and clutch plate. The dealer miss-wired the
alternator and 2 km down the road the van caught fire.  An
independent mechanic found the van in the junk yard and his wife
cleaned the inside, he fixed the engine - etc  and they drove it for
a year then sold it to me. So I have benefited from BOTH the dealer
and the independent.  I still drive 60 minutes to the independent
for ALL the van work.     Malcolm S
