I've got a simple motor mount design that attaches to 4 of the bosses
on the center of the block. This avoids the strange curved design
needed to go around the turbo if one was to use the std (rear)
boltup. The Std mount is straight, but would run right into the turbo and
waste gate.
Mount is a 115 by 95mm 8mm thick steel plate with the back machined
for the different heights of the bosses (why on earth couldn't VW make
them all in the same plane!). Plate attaches with 3 M10 bolts and one
M8 to the bosses. A 50mm square tube is mounted (bolted for the moment
so I can adjust it, will weld when done) at a 25.7 degrees angle to
this plate. This puts the end of the square tube 1/8" away from the
turbo and wastegate. The square tube is machined out to attach the
motor mount as high as possible, and reinforced on the top to
compensate for the hollowing.
