hey Phillip,
     I have changed the lights in my dash to red.  All I did was paint the
bulbs red using model paint.  The kind you use to build model cars and
planes.  The color red that results is based on how much you thin the paint.
I haven't had any paint come off in several several years.  This way you can
pick what color you want your dash lights.
