According to the Optima dealer in Chattanooga, CAR TUNES ( an auto
stereo guru place), one can place the Optimas on their ends, sides or
upside down and it makes NO difference.  Had him take a look at the
space under my '85GL's driver seat and he assured me there was no
problem.
