Tow truck came back with the 87 Syncro this afternoon. Engine turns over
but still won't start.

I discovered my problem!

I went under the van and pulled the two leads off and back on the fuel pump
and whapped the pump twice with the handle of a screwdriver.

Started right up!

Now, I'm not sure whether it's the pump or the connection that's bad. At
least the problem seems to be narrowed.
