Does anybody know if Volkswagen made a diesel Rabbit convertible? Also if
you know, where there many of these made. I have the idea of finding one in
good shape with a bad motor and putting my good motor from my underpowered 82
diesel vanagon camper in it. I then could upgrade my vanagon to a larger
diesel motor and get two great diesel vw's out of the deal!

I don't think VW did, but I don't know for sure.

You could convert a gas convertible to diesel, but I think it's a bad idea.
You know how much those diesels can smoke, and if you're stopped at a light,
or in slow traffic with the top down, look out.

I used to drive a big diesel 24 foot straight truck. I remember once pulling
up along side a really hot babe in a BMW convertible at a stop light I'm
sitting there looking down at her, when my truck started to belch out some
nasty black smoke from the exhaust pipe that was under the cab of the truck.
The smoke drifted across and right through the BMW.

Send me that diesel engine instead. The diesel in my rabbit pu is dead and
needs a transplant.
