>Disadvantages of Syncro: >Several hundred pounds heavier: slower, more cumbersome handling Not sure what you mean by "handling" but there were several articles in the mid 80s that reviewed the then-new Syncro and they proclaimed universally how much BETTER it handled than the normal Vanagon. They attributed this to the permanent 4-wheel drive, which makes sense: Anectodotally, my Audi 200 TQ Wagon handles better than any BMW I've ever owned (1600, 2002ti, Bavaria, 2800cs, 745i). And my Syncro handles amazingly well for a van/bus -- I'm quite pleased with it. Folks, with the Syncro, VW got it right! Michael J.
