Hello List,
I have been looking for a spare tire carrier for my vanagon for several years.
My van has larger than stock tires and the spare no longer fits under the
front. Visiting my local 4x4 parts store did not pan out either, nothing they
had came close to being adaptable. I have seen pictures of vans with rear tire
carriers in the Syncro section at vanagon.com but never in person, until last
month. While on vacation in Florida I spotted a vanagon at a campground that
had one. The silver camper had Ontario plates and the carrier had the word
"ORTEC" stamped on it. The van was in storage and the owner was not around.
Has anybody on the list heard about this company? I'm assuming ORTEC is a
Canadian company. I took several pictures of the swing out carrier so if any
builders out there want to make bunch of these I'm sure a few folks on the
list would want them. Thanks in advance for any information you folks might
have.
