Well, at least you're not leaving the list even if the Statz will be progress-impaired. It is tough enough to contemplate life without the Statz, but much worse to think you wouldn't be a contributor. :( In case you need inspiration for re-writing the scripts for the Statz, remember the old Y2k programmer's proverb "A program a day keeps the millenium away." And its corollary: "we don't need no stinkin' 4-digit date field." :) Will the next millenium have any meaning without the weekly Statz? I don't think so. :) Thankz for the Statz so far, in any case. >... autumn leaves must fall. etc. > >well, the powers-that-be have decreed that my email address (above) will >disappear from the planet tonight. :( so anybody that has that address >in their web pages, address books, toilet walls or whatever, might as >well change it now, while you're thinking about it. > >i can be reached at jwalker@bama.ua.edu >a new super-whoopie unix box with basically shit for mail programs and >text editors. :( > >i can also be reached at jwalker@tusc.net ... a commercial isp. > >the whole point of this is that the Weakly Statz will cease ... the new >box doesn't have the same software as the old one (surprise!!!) and i don't >know how long it'll take me to convert the "programs" (really just some >REXX scripts/execs) to run in fortran on the new machine. :( > >i'll still be around, but the old familiar ua1vm.ua.edu will be gone. and >i ain't crazy about this new crap. seems to me to be several steps backwards >in user-friendliness and usability ... i always thought computers were >supposed to do the work. ;) > >unca joel > Maureen Stretch Natick, Mass. 91 Vanagon GL Westy "Johann"
