I am inclined to agree with Chris as far as going with a gas, as opposed to diesel engine...turbo or not. I'm not sure where everyone on the list is(geographically), but around here, the only places to get diesel are truck stops and a few select gas stations near major highways. And frankly, by the time realize that I need gas, I have about 5 minutes before the car conks out due to lack of fuel. 5 cylinder Audi turbo is the way to go, IMHO. No diesels or "bastard" GM or Ford transplants, thank you. -Dave '88 GTi 16v '88 Vanagon GL Wolfsburg (2.1L Waterboxer powered) In a message dated 1/12/99 3:23:49 PM Eastern Standard Time, JordanVw@AOL.COM writes: > i dont know where you would get one of these. the 5 cyl turbo diesel was ONLY > imported into the US from like '81-'83. they did not go over real well. so > Audi never sold many turbodiesels here. good luck finding one...maybe you > will get lucky and find a '81-'83 5000 turbo diesel in a junk yard, but the > engine will undoubtably be thrashed with about a million miles on it. ive > also > heard the turbo diesel 5cyls were mechanical nightmares.
