Thanks to all of the list members who responded to my post about a clicking
speedometer a few weeks ago.  My local VW dealer wanted over $300 parts
(cable, speedometer head) and labor to stop the annoying and fairly loud
clicking.  After trying a common suggestion from the list members who
responded to my post, yesterday I unhooked the cable from the speedometer
head and applied some cable lubricant ($2.49 at Pep Boys).  The clicking
disappeared and it was very nice driving into work today without the
annoying "click-click-click" sound in the background.
