I don't usually jump into the fray on this type of issues.. but in this case the accusation of SPAM was totally without merit.  Ron of Bus Depot was reponding to a specific inquiry by a list member as to the proper oil filter replacement part number without having to pay an arm and a leg to the dealer .  You local FLAP may not usually know the correct replacement oil filter for the Vanagon.. and Ron posted a very appropriate reponse to that inquiry.  

Without vendors posts for example we would not know that we can retrofit our outside mirror without having to spend $160 at the dealers or that we can actually afford to add head rest for our middle and rear seat passangers. 

Ron, Ken, Chris and other vendors who have spent valuable time on this list have made significant contributions to Vanagon owners like me.  These occassional "ads" and announcements have always been appropriate, low key and is not an annoyance in anyway.  I welcome them and look forward to finding out what else I don't have to pay outrageous prices for at the dealers!
