Given recent questions about speedo cables, this might be a good time for this question: While I've been waiting for the cash to get my speedo calibrated (it reads increasingly high as speed increases), I've noticed that my odometer reads correctly. I.e. the speed is off, but the mileage--as far as I can tell--is right on. This seems strange; doesn't the same mechanism control both? I was under the impression that if one went, the whole unit was disfunctional. Is calibration still the answer, or are a new speedo/cable in order? Seth B. '84 Westy Seth C.
