Hella and Cibie H4 are E-code lights as well.  This term is
probably being used here as a shortcut description, but
someone who's actually seem the European (E) lights for
Vanagons may indeed have seen the circled E molded into the
lens.  Someone from the UK who experiences E-code headlights
on everything s/he drives may call them "nothing special,"
but it's many North Americans' experience that just about
any E-code headlight is better than what we get standard
here.
