Thank you all for the tips.  I called VW for the price on the HL switch -
$50.00+(ouch!).  What was interesting is that the parts person said that I may
need a new connector since the new switch could have a different pin pattern
than my existing one.  I may have to cut and splice.  Has anyone crossed this
bridge before?
