Hi Volks,
Possibly what we are missing here is the hose from the tank to the fuel
pump (or from the plastic filter to the fuel pump on some years) fits over
the pump fitting. If you check the size of the pump inlet ID (inside
diameter) you will note it is about 0.25 inch. My spare fuel pump is
connected to a fuel injector tester at present so I am not positive on this.
Maybe someone has a a spare fuel pump laying around and would check.
I am learning all about pumps. I had a blocked line (artery) myself. I
am back home and doing just great. I could not believe the volume of mail in
my vanagon mail box Wednesday.

has a 1/2" intake? And, I think the 1/2" Pump is standard (I've seen two,
both from later model vanagons and both with the 1/2" inlet). I just wonder
why a pump with a 1/2" intake would get a 1/4" hose running into it.
