New problem with the 1.9 TD conversion. No room for the PS pump belt to clear the oil fill tube. I want to keep the tube intact, and I thought I had it whipped by mounting the pump low on the right side, and straddling the belt over the tube, but somehow forgot that the engine support needs space there too! I want to retain the serpentine belt drive for the alternator and water pump, so this leave one option yet - mount the pump snugly near the alternator and install a flat friction - pulley as the water pump has, but against the backside of the belt. The problem is, that runs the pump backwards. Will it work in reverse? I did pull it apart, and it is possible to turn the oval pumping galley 90 degrees by machining new holes for the locating pins. Will this work, does anyone have experience with this? It works in theory for me, any input? Thanks!! Karl
