Was it wet when you were driving? If not, ignore the rest of this. I went on a trip when my 86 syncro started to do the same. It was awful weather. I made it to a parts store and bought some "ignition dry-and-go". I had to spray my O2 sensor wires with it. (It took me a good while to figure out that it was the O2 sensor, I just sprayed everything that might be affected by the water.) It still acts up once in a while in the rain or slush, quick spray, good for day. (I am replacing it, just haven't had a chance yet) It seems that when I was driving slower, it wouldn't get wet enough to act up, but at highway speeds, the heat from the exhaust wasn't enough to keep it dry. Hope it helped. Gary Thaxter 74 transporter (panel) 78 westy 85 kombi 86 syncroGL
