I get violent shaking and banging from what sounds like my exhaust assembly (possibly be the whole engine) when i drive away from a stand-still. It happens in 1st gear and goes away when i get under motion. All my exhaust brackets are intact. In fact, I just replaced the whole exhaust manifold which fractured in two places; most likely due to this stress of this shacking. I'm thinking it might be clutch-related even though regular driving and gear changing is unaffected. Any ideas on what could cause this and if it is the clutch, what i should look for? Comments appreciated. Stephen 1984 Westfalia
