p-mail didn't come thru. I pulled the trans out of my wife's ex-Audi 5000
('84) a couple times (long sad story). I did this under the supervision of
someone who actually knew what he was doing, I was just playing the part of

   I'm sorry to tie-up this List with a non-Vanagon post but it appears that

   of you are also Audi owners and I find myself in need of some information
   about 5000's.
   I just bought an '85 5000S Avant.
   This particular car is a non-turbo, non-Quattro version and has a toasted
   automatic transmission - how common a problem is this and what would my
   options be as far as replacing it?
