What you probably got was an attachment named "winmail.dat". This comes from Microsoft Exchange (E-mail) servers when the server admin is trying to push out MS RTF (Rich Text Formatting). The attachment will have all the font and formatting info embedded inside. If you use a MS e-mail reader, the attachment is used to disply the formatted text. Non-MS e-mail readers just see it as an unknown attachment. Hope this helps, TomC tcarrington@relitech.com -----Original Message----- From: Dave Caston & Sherrie Payne [SMTP:cdcaston@NNI.COM] Sent: Monday, March 01, 1999 8:25 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: check for virus Howdee, In the wake of the HAPPY virus warning I got a suspicious e-mail attachment this morning, something like WINSOK.DAT. I'm on Macintosh so this don't fit and threw it away. Everyone on the list better look at there files like the update said cause this list generates 98% if not higher of my e-mail and as a result the list could be no infected.
