I have recently found a great mechanic here SLC.  Contract Auto Repair, 4004
S. West Temple.  they are doing the heads my '86 syncro right now. Very
knowledgable. The owner, Ron is on vacation right now in his '86 Wolfsberg
Westy, but his son Jeff is also quite competent.  They work on quite a few
vanagons.  Incidently they are listed on Vanagon.com as a preferred shop in
Utah, the only one listed for Utah.  Hope this helps
