Eric gave the clue! I wrote:

Well, they changed it all around for the A/C versions. On the '88 the
thermoswitch triggers low and high speed, and the AC does low (AC on),
medium (Compressor on), and high (high pressure in system). So, if it
isn't running at all, the path to check is: Fuse S1, 30A; 2.5mm BK to
thermoswitch pin 3; [short pin 3 to pin 2] ; 2.5 mm R/W to resistor pack
pin 2; 6.0 mm R from resistor pin 3 to fan motor; 6.0 mm BR to ground at
terminal 10 near fuse panel.

If you short across the resistor pack it will probably blow fuse S1, as
that would run the fan at full speed which is normally supplied through an
un-numbered 50A fuse direct form the battery to pin 30/2 of the "Rad Cool
Fan Relay 3rd Stage," which also feeds the fan motor through a 6.0 mm R wire.

That's a big fan motor, could be up in the 400W range!

If you need more, or a page faxed or scanned from Bentley, let me know...
