Some friends at work are wanting to enter a car at this years "crash to pass" in July. They were envisioning 1970 Thunderbird land yachts but I was envisioning a Vanagon. The rules of the "race" are simple - drive around the oval track and make physical contact with at least one car per lap. Last one moving wins. Prizes are give for the most unique car, funniest car and other categories. From past experiences with the races the car always dies because you smash into someone and break the rad causing the enine to overheat or someone smashed into you and damages the engine in some way (lack of oil etc etc). My theory on the air-cooled Vanagon is there is no rad to break - the van is biger and taller than most cars that are in the race and with a decent steel bumper like I have on my Syncro - noone is going to touch the engine. I figure it would be more than likely I would place in the top three... So, does anyone have a Vanagon they would like to donate to this project? :) -- David Marshall - Vanagon List Admin - Quesnel, BC, Canada -- -- 78 VW Rabbit, 80 VW Caddy, 87 Audi 5KSQ, 85 VW Cabriolet -- -- 88 2.0L VW Syncro Double Cab, WANTED: VW / Bombardier Iltis -- -- David's Volkswagen Home Page http://www.volkswagen.org -- -- Fast Forward Autobahn Sport Tuning http://www.fastforward.ca -- -- david@volkswagen.org (pmail) or vanagon@volkswagen.org (list) --
