DID you make sure that you have the right Oil filter... I have found that this can aleiviate the problem. Many many times I have seen the wrong filter make this happen on Vans and in-line four VW.. Vanagons are very Perticular to the correct filter... Mann or GUD only ..... Good luck Chris
