Subject:Re: [limbolist] a/c retrofit

Hi volks,
The A/C retrofit question always seems to pop up at this time of
year. Its Spring, go figure. I should remind everyone that VW does
have a kit and proceedure to retrofit a R12- Vanagon to R134. I've been
involved with three conversions and its not very expensive. I had a
printout of the parts cost, damn if I can find it now, but with was
about 300 dollars at 20% off suggested list. Figure in 2-3 hours labor
and its done. I have a copy of the bulliten VW put out back in 95 on
A/C retrofit. It's from '85 and up. The A/C compressor DOES NOT need
to be replaced, a few o-rings, reciver drier and the compressor oil
needs to be replaced. If anyone wants to know how well it works
contact LiMBO prez Dale Ward. He's done both his buses. He tells me
they work everybit as good as the old R-12. With freon costing upwards
of 50bucks a pound and R134 is about 10 bucks a pound its cost effective
on the long run.
If anyone wants and copy of the bulliten send me a SASE to the
address below. Put about 78 cents worth of postage on it.
