Well I finally got the mud flaps I ordered from Just Kampers installed on my 87 syncro. I don't have any pictures yet but here are some notes on what I had to do to get them installed: 1. First I had to remove the existing rubber fender extensions. Each of these were held on with 3 bolts that were all pretty cruddy and rusty. The bolts are molded into the rubber extensions and I ended up destroying one extension but managed to get the other 3 off intact. 2. The rear flaps are held on to the edge of the fender with u-shaped clips and set screws. There is also a bracket that secures the inner edge of the mud flap to the frame. The bracket uses a similar u-shaped clip and set screw to hold the bracket to the frame. This doesn't seem substantial enough to me--I think I'm going to have to come up with another way of attaching this bracket to the frame. 3. The front flaps are secured to the edge of the fender with spring clips. These went on pretty easy but I did have to drill a hole in the frame just to the inside of the jack point to secure the inside edge of each mud flap. I threaded a piece of fuel hose on the bolt here to act as a spacer instead of using the stock bolts/washers. I wonder what I should do about the stock mud flap that protects the propane tank? Looks weird to have 2 mud flaps only a few inches apart... MM _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. Visit http://www.msn.com
