Karl,

On my 84 the relay and buzzer were one unit.  I opened the door with the
key in, listened to which relay was making that horrible obnoxious
screaming buzzing (Oh Federal Government, please save me from myself!)
and yanked the offender.  Now just blissful silence.

As far as I know, and from what other listmembers have told me, it has no
other function.
