Why not stay on the east side of the mountains if you're chicken about a
little rain... go up HWY 395 on the backside of Bishop and Yosemite?  There
are some great out of the way places I use to go to in years of past in
Calif... even some hot springs in various canyons.  And up to Ashland or
into Crater Lake OR?
