Inside the rear vents on the either side of the rear hatch, are black
foam filters. It does not appear that there is any way to remove these
filters to clean them. It also appears that they  get clogged with dust etc.,
which may inhibit their functioning.

       My questions are:   1. What is the function of these foam filters ?

        2. Do they require servicing ?   If so, how should they be serviced ?
