Hello
I recently purchased my second '84 Van which has a problem going into
reverse when the engine is not hot. After running for a few minutes it goes
into reverse. It also seems to shift sluggish in drive at least until the
engine warms up.

What is the likely cause of the problem and what are the repair options. My
other '84 has a similar problem. I checked and replaced the fluid and
cleaned the strainer but to no avail. I have yet to get around to fixin it.
Since both vans have the same problem, I'm assuming this is a common
problem.
