This is in response to Todd Guttman's question about temperature gauge
position.

My '84 Vanagon temp gauge runs just to the left of the warning light in
average traffic and on the highway.

It runs just to the right of the light in stop and go traffic, and when
idling for more than about ten minutes.

I think you still have some trapped air in the system.
