Subject:Re: Westy refrigerator removal

I found the fridge went both out and in fairly easily. Some tips:

    - For both removing and installing, tilt the base up and toward
you, to help the flue clear the underside of the stove.
    - Remove the side vent grill (over the table), and watch and reach
through there to guide the flue. Although you can probably do
it alone, this would be a good point to ask a Gothca to help out,
if one happens to be visiting. (If not, a friend of some other
      ethnicity may be substituted.)
    - The bottom of the fridge is not flat - the combustion chamber
extends an inch or two below the rest of the fridge. The fridge
sits on rails in the cabinet. Have a couple of 2x4's or something
to put the flat part of the base on, so you don't have to have it
tilted over, resting on the combustion chamber.
    - Two screws come through cabinet sidewalls into the fridge
sidewalls. When you reinstall the fridge, you'll need those
screw holes to line up again. Up/down is no problem,
but front/back (of the fridge) is harder to judge. I used
a piece of masking tape to mark the cabinet where the front
of the fridge should be, so I'd know how far back to push it.
    - While I had the fridge out, I added power wires into the
interior for a possible future interior fan, and I added a cutoff
switch for the coil fan so that I could keep it from running in
hot weather when the fridge is off.
    - Take the opportunity of having the fridge out to check both
the tank and city water fittings for leaks. Mine leaked like
sieves, and the "trough" at the place the wall meets the floor
      was full of rust.

                                   -Steven Sittser
