Wasserboxer stuck in a campground on wet grass.
Very humiliating experience.  Had lots of
clearance but clearly lacked in the traction
dept...  Give me FWD any day.

I've read this many times, including off
vanagon.com.  I haven't had my 2wd vanagon long
enough to evaluate it's traction.

What gives?  The vanagon has the engine and
transmission mounted over the drive axle.  Why
would it have poor traction?
