Hi, I've been on vacation these last two weeks so this response is a wee bit late... David Marshall wrote (in part): > > After >replacing the faulty hose we still had an overheating problem when crawling >down logging roads, at least to the CIS-E computer we had a cooling >problem. So, this weekend I replaced the 87C therostat with a 80C >thermostat and now the needle sits between the 1/2 bar and the "cold" bar. >It runs much better now! Last summer, I too replaced my thermostat (on my I4 conversion) with a "cooler" one with similar results. But I have to add a couple of observations... 1. Your gas milage will suffer abit in the cooler times of the year (and Quesnel is a "little" bit cooler than Victoria in the winter). 2. I am concerend that the rapid and quite high increase in water temp when going slow (under load) on logging roads is a sign of an partially fouled radiator. I experienced similar symptoms in my van about 4 years ago and i had the rad recored (possible with the all metal diesel rad). It made a big difference. Alistair
