I've had the receiver/dryer and compressor replaced. 2 compressors have gone out in the last month...I just got a call back from the shop and was told that there are small metal flakes in the system that is doing this. (contamination). He told me originally that he flushed the system. Now he says that the only way to get rid of the contamination is to boil out each of the parts for the AC system. So my question I guess is this...is this REALLY how you get rid of contamination in an AC system and how much should this cost if that is how it has to be done? I have to tell him first thing in the morning to go ahead or not.
