Roy,

Removing the lighter can be tricky. Although you can get your hand on
the cylinder behind the dash panel, it doesn't seem to release. There
are a couple of detent tabs that unite the front portion with the rear.
Find and press these tabs inward and half the lighter receptical(colored
plastic) comes out the front and the metal cylinder comes out the back.
