I contacted one of the surplus vendors in Germany about this and they
confirmed that Syncros are not available now, but there may be some
available in the future.

The current stock of military surplus Vanagons is currently low due
to the <war, conflict, police action, unplesantness> in Southern
Europe.

It is interesting to note that the price for the gas powered van is
>much< lower than a diesel powered one.
