AFAIK, coolant is not supposed to leave any kind of coating on your cooling system, especially after flushing it out. Aluminum will corrode to form an aluminum oxide layer, but that's the only coating that's supposed to be there. But what do I know...I'm just a chemical engineer. :-) Maybe we should ask VW van guru Dennis Haynes...he runs the orange stuff. -Karl Karl and Kristina Bloss, Trexlertown, PA '87 Westfalia Weekender "Beverley" - 186K miles VW Mechanic list: http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw/vwshops Busses by the Trail - Oct 15-17, 1999: http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw/bbtt PA/NJ Vanagon owner's mailing list: http://www.onelist.com/subscribe/pavanagon
