I am not complaining, actually I am proud of the right maintenance.

Where could I get information about something like this?

I do not want to install a turbocharger because of potential piston
problems due to a lack of cooling. A compressor or intake fan will add cold
air pressure (not hot like a turbocharger) and I just want to help on the
intake to generate a bit more power as well as accommodate for altitude
differences.

I agree, that's why I am proud to use a $1 tool (3/4 6inch bolt complete
with nut) which does the job. I forgot to mention that the pistons were
braced by two small pieces of wood wedged between piston and housing during
pin removal. This is something even VW does not do. (Note: the supporting
wood scraps are not included in my cost calculation :) ) Anyone is free to
buy the appropriate VW tool which will cost ya $$ ... :(
