Have any of you Syncro owners had a transmission leak in the back, right
where the the clutch housing (the very end of the transmission)  meets the
engine?
     I got a new $2000 transmission from VW of America 3 years ago, and It
hasnt leaked at all up until today.  I just changed the oil and then started
up the engine & let it run 5 min, and there was a 3" pool of oil comming
from this very joint!
      I had drained all the engine oil and let it sit 24 hrs before
refilling, as I discovered I had the wrong engine oil (20-50 w VS 10-40W),
and I wondered if the seals could have dried out a little  in this time, but
I dont think the engine oil is in this area??
      I was also planning to change my present petro based tranny oil with
redline MT-90 synthetic, but now I'm wondering if this will cause it to leak
more??
