van-sag:
To fix the rear sag on a vanagon is pretty easy.
All you need is a semi soft vinyl cutting board,
( I used a 1/2" thick one ) and a thin blade jigsaw.
First measure the height of the rear to determine how many
inches you want to raise the beast.
Now remove the rear shocks and raise the van till you
can remove the springs.
Take the big round rubber doughnut (or upper spring seat)
and use that as a pattern to cut some washers from the vinyl
board. Try to make them fit snug.
Now install the vinyl spacers where the rubber doughnut used to be.
Install as many as needed, to level and raise the van as desired,
but not more than 2 or maybe 3 of the 1/2 inch spacers.
Make sure there still is enough room for the orig. rubber doughnut
and the spring to seat safely.
Don't forget to reinstall the rubber doughnut (spring seat).
On my westy it only took a 1/2" washer on the left side to level it out.
If your westy sags, I would try 1/2 inch on the right, and
1 inch on the left. So all you need is three of the vinyl spacers.
Total cost from a FKSS ( friendly kitchen supply store) maybe 6 dollars.
