The point that I was trying to make is that if you're not prepared, you
have no business leaving the superslab.  In this neck of the woods,
folks occasionally die from lack of preparedness.  At the cost of VCs to
safest solution is to start walking. ;o)  Heck, even VW acknowledges
that if one is to venture from the beaten path, one has to prepare for
it.
