Greetings to Finland, I actually had the reverse problem here in the US. Our dealers are so afraid of Vanagons that if you have almost any problem at all they say, "needs a rebuilt engine". I went to look at a van parked at the dealership one day when going to get parts. The van was very nice and I asked the dealer about it. He said that it had a headgasket leak and that the owner wanted to sell it. I came back a few days later, told him that I would give him about half of what he wanted for it because of the head gasket leak. He called the owner and they said OK. When I went in to sign the papers the dealer says, "Oh, by the way, it not only has a head gasket leak but it also has a low oil pressure problem. I must've forgotten to mention this the other day :)" Well I decided to take a chance on buying the van anyway. That was over 20k miles ago and it is still running great. Dealer said leaky heads and low oil pressure. I have found that the heads don't leak at all (haven't added more than a couple quarts in 20k miles) and that the low oil pressure problem was really a bad sender. Just shows what some Vanagon knowledge and a good prayer life can do for you :) Sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes your the bug :) Thanks, Ken Wilford http://www.vanagain.com John 3:16 Phone: (856)-765-1583 Shop: (856)-327-0027 Fax: (856)-327-2242
