Ok so I didn't get any takers on my first question.  But during that time I
did discover that collapsible push rod tubes can be purchased which can be
installed without removing the head.  Awesome baby!  Does anyone have
experience with these items?  The Bus Depot sells them.  They are expensive
compared to standard tubes but well worth it if I don't need to remove that
exhaust system which has not been removed since I am not sure when!
