FWIW, I've found that with the rear heater removed (which many of us have
done), a VHS cassette fits perfectly through the opening formerly used by
the heater vent.  So a player mounted under the seat can be fed through the
opening without raising the seat.  And the player controls can be accessed
through the opening as well.
