ive owned both AT and 4spd manual Vanagons.  they both have the same top end
speed.  IMO, the time taken between shifts between 1st 2nd and 3rd on the
4spd, and the startoff from a stop in the AT are not all that different.   if
you want a speed demon, i have a '86 audi 5000cs turbo quatro im selling....
