Hey Markus Had the same issues myself this summer. Definitely take the belt off if you're going to run w/out ps. You don't want your pump spinning w/out fluid which also serves as a lubricant. I replaced my lines with copper tubing... 3/8" 1/2" if I recall correctly. It took some creative fitting manipulation... various flares, barbs, and compressions... but it's been running smoothly for five thousand miles (except since I pulled the heads off for a gasket job... into reassembly phase now). The ps repairs cost me about $30. Unforseen benefit of running w/out ps: teenaged daughter did not want to drive the van! :-) Jpeter '85 Weekender: "Snugvagon" Alfred, NY >From: Markus Benne <mbenne@CROSSKEYS.COM> >Reply-To: mbenne@CROSSKEYS.COM >To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM >Subject: Rusty Power steering lines... >Date: Fri, 5 Nov 1999 13:04:05 -0500 > >I've got very rusty power steering lines and I was wondering about >parts. > >Are these generic lines of do I buy these through a vendor?
