I enthusiastically recommend the Nokia Hakkepelitta 10C's. I live in Lake Tahoe with my 2wd van and love them. Last year was my first year out here and the day I got the tires was the day of our first winter storm.(sometime in October) As I drove back up from Reno I passed several cars off the side of the highway, some upside down, and,of course, some 4wd. This was a result of ice on the road in lower elevations. As I drove up(1500 vertical feet in a couple of miles) to my friend's place the roads changed from ice to about 8 inches of snow. I drove right up a curvy 12% grade passing people with chains. I have also driven down the same hill in a large storm. Not once all winter did I need to put on chains. They are not cheap. I paid right around $500 for the tires, studs, and mounting and balancing. With all of the beautiful snow that we get here, though, they are more than worth it.
