Bill, i was not suggesting that your decision to drive witht he fridge off was unreasonable. Rather i was disputing your contention that driving with the fridge on is "unsafe," posese significant threat of injury or is somehow reckless. Based on a weighing of the relative risks, at least for me, it is a reasonable thing to do so long as you take obvious precautions. For others, it may not be, which is fine. Know your limits! steve Davidson wrote: > > Steve, > You are certainly entitled to your opinion but... > > >And any impact sufficient to crack that tank and make it > >explode when the valve is open would crack the tank > >whether the valve was on or off > > Sure, but I'd much rather have the flame off! That is the point of driving > with the valve off. The valve closes without pressure, no? Or at least the flame soon goes out. the impact would probably knock it out. The lines in the cabin are low pressure, too. it wouldn't leak enough to pose significant threat of explosion quickly or without warning or before the flame went out. > > >besides, the impact would probably kill you first. > > Not necessarily... it's possible a minor collision could crack the fitting > wher it comes out of the tank or rupture a seam/weld in the tank.
